Holiday season is our favorite time of year. Every year, November comes around and the bare trees & crisp cold air reminds us of the season’s festivities that are upon us. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa and New Year’s Eve – no matter what you celebrate, one thing is for sure, this is the season that brings together family and friends. We love this season not only because because it brings together our loved ones, but because it gives us a reason to gather around our favorite foods. For us, each holiday brings a new dessert table, where pie definitely has its own special spot: front and center. Picking the perfect pie for each holiday dessert table is our speciality, and we’re here to share our expertise with you.
Let’s start with Thanksgiving. A holiday that gives thanks and celebrates the blessings of the harvest. Thanksgiving is usually all about the turkey, but everyone here at Granny’s would argue otherwise. We like to think of Thanksgiving as the mecca of dessert tables. Our family only serves pie for dessert at Thanksgiving, but if we had to narrow it down to just a few selections, we would make sure that Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, and Apple Pie all had a place on the dessert table spread. Each one of these pies are a classic in their own right. Pumpkin pie’s fluffy texture, pecan’s sweetness, and apple’s succulent spice – you can’t go wrong with either one of them.
Next – the December holidays: Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. Just when the snow starts to fall and the winter nights get quiet, we can’t help but bring a little decadence to the dessert table. Our favorite pie for the December holidays is without a doubt Chocolate Creme pie. The bottom crispy crust accompanied by creamy smooth chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream has our mouths watering already. Our dessert table motto: always make room for chocolate.
Last, but most certainly not least – New Year’s Eve. The holiday to close out the season’s festivities and start a new year. No matter your New Year resolution, you’ll want to end the year lavishly, and what better way to treat yourself than with a selection of our chiffon pies: lemon, key lime, or pumpkin. LIght and fluffy on the palate, but warm and filling on the inside, these chiffon pies are sure to make your year ends in indulgence.
